Bitcoin and Crypto Are Not Discussed at the Trump-Musk X Space

• Elon Musk and Republican nominee for president Donald Trump had an interview that drew more than a million listeners to X.

• No mention of cryptocurrency was made during the two-hour program.

During a Monday night conversation with Elon Musk, the CEO of X, the former president Donald Trump made no mention of bitcoin or cryptocurrency.

The extensive conversation lasted two hours and covered a wide range of subjects, such as global warming, artificial intelligence, the economy, and illegal immigration.

Millions of people watched the interview listeners and was postponed for more than forty-five minutes as a result of what Musk described as a “massive [distributed denial of service] attack on X”.

Regarding the purported attack, Musk remarked, “As this massive attack illustrates, there’s a lot of opposition to people just hearing what President Trump has to say.”

However, a source told The Verge that this wasn’t the case and that there was a “99 percent chance Musk was lying” about the attack, casting doubt on the narrative. X Spaces was experiencing global disruptions, according to an alert by cybersecurity watchdog Netblocks, but the alert did not specify if the outage was caused by a denial-of-service attack.

Bettors were offered a 65 percent probability on Polymarket that the term “crypto” would come up during the interview, with over $600,000 was wagered on the subject. In order to ask bettors if they thought “bitcoin” would be mentioned, the prediction market introduced another market. This market peaked at 69% with nearly $330,000 on the line.

If the forecast is accurate, each share pays out $1 in USDC, a stablecoin or cryptocurrency that trades at par with the US dollar, and zero if it is not.

Other digital assets like ether, solana, and dogecoin are not listed on Polymarket.

Traders had risked more than $250,000 on Trump uttering “Tesla,” with a top percentage of 79%. Nevertheless, Trump sidestepped the word by referring to Musk’s electric car brand as “your cars.” Other terms that were punted by gamblers and that Trump ultimately said on X space were “MAGA,” “illegal immigrant,” and “tampon.”

Even though Trump recently announced crypto policy at the BTC 2024 conference in Nashville, making cryptocurrency a political topic, mainstream events like the first presidential debate in June continue to ignore it.
