OpenAI delays Advanced Speech Mode Launch

Foresight News reports that OpenAI has provided updates on the development of its advanced voice mode, which was first shown off during its spring release conference. By the end of June, the Alpha version was supposed to go live for a select few ChatGPT Plus members. However, because more time is required to complete the requirements for going live, the launch has been postponed by one month. Enhancing the user experience, building the infrastructure to support millions of users’ real-time reaction needs, and refining the model’s capacity to identify and reject specific content are the main areas of focus for OpenAI.

A select sample of users will participate in the initial alpha testing, and feedback will be gathered, and expansions are made in line with that. All Plus customers should have access by autumn, according to OpenAI, however the exact date will depend on if safety and reliability requirements are met. Furthermore, OpenAI is expediting the release of screen-sharing and video functionality. In order to produce more lifelike and real-time AI discussions, the advanced speech mode is built to recognise and react to emotional and non-verbal cues.
